The most widely read and most rewarding book of all time is the Book of Allah, the Noble Qur’an. Whoever believes in it is as one who has believed in all the revealed books. Whoever recites it has recited all the books, and whoever acts upon it has gained as much as one who acted upon every true scripture. While no one can write anything like it, believing in it and memorizing it is possible for everyone. There is a station more honorable than writing a work of literature worthy of a Nobel Prize, and that is learning the Noble Qur’an and living by it.
Which value in life has ever been appreciated as it deserves? Sometimes children have failed to grasp a great truth that their parents understood. At other times, society has failed to appreciate what small children understood. For this reason, Hifz education has become as hard and demanding as chewing iron chickpeas. Yet we must not forget that every hardship is accompanied by two eases. We must not forget that whoever is with the Book of Allah will have Allah with them. What we understand by religious education is that our children should not merely memorize the Noble Qur’an by rote, but should gain the awareness to gladly give everything, even their lives if necessary, for the Book of Allah and His religion. Along with this, they should acquire the etiquette of knowledge before knowledge itself, and a consciousness of worship.
Despite all efforts to discredit them, work is being done so that Qur’an students are held in greater esteem in the society they live in and have complete self-confidence. We strive to help them gain a depth that, far from being ashamed of their rank, inspires longing in others. We also do not neglect the families whose children we educate, and we guide them on how to embrace the privilege and responsibility of having a child who is a hafiz.
